Advocates for Equity: Social Justice in the Early Childhood Community
There is more awareness now than ever that the experience marginalized groups have with educational institutions is different than that of non-marginalized groups. Many practices in early childhood centers that exist today are insufficient at truly meeting the needs of the diverse communities they aim to serve, and it is up to parents and educators to reflect upon those practices and call for changes.
This two-hour training will provide a brief overview of the history of the ways the early education system has attempted to combat biases and adopt more inclusive practices. We will then examine those practices and reflect on how we can re-tool or better support the families that we serve in a way that can create meaningful and lasting change. Prepare to thoughtfully and respectfully listen, reflect, and discuss to be an active participant in this important dialogue!

What is the refund policy?
Unfortunately, we do not offer refunds for trainings, unless Buncombe Partnership for Children cancels the event. Instead, we do offer ‘credits’ that can be applied to future trainings you wish to attend. To receive credits for future training you must cancel at least 24 hours in advance. You are responsible for contacting us should you wish you transfer your credit to another training.

Unfortunately, we cannot accept cash. If you do not have a credit card or feel uncomfortable using a credit card online, consider asking a friend to register you and giving them cash.
I’m going to be running late. Can I still attend?
Unfortunately, DCDEE rules do not allow for credit to be given to participants that miss more than 15 minutes of a training. The participant is welcome to still attend, but CHCs or CEUs cannot be given.
