Sustaining Facility Quality

The Sustaining Facility Quality (SFQ) – Facility Incentives activity supports facilities to maintain high quality early care and education by providing unrestricted grant awards to 4 and 5 star rated programs or those with NAEYC national accreditation.

To participate in SFQ, child care facilities must: have a star rating of 4 or higher or be NAEYC nationally accredited in Buncombe County, have documented approval for accepting subsidized children, have a written Transition To Kindergarten (TTK) plan on file if serving rising kindergartners, attend an orientation session, and complete an application.

Facility awards in SFQ are based on four criteria:

  • Low caregiver turnover
  • Star rated license 4 or 5 or NAEYC national accreditation
  • Offering health insurance and a sick leave policy for teachers
  • And/or enrolling infants/toddlers under 24 months of age.
