Invisible Sentence: Advocating for Children of Incarcerated and Returning Parents with Melissa Radcliff

Online- Directors Community of Practice

The purpose of this Community of Practice is to have dedicated space for directors to learn from and connect with each other around the issues most pressing to THEM. The topics of these free monthly sessions will be largely participant-directed. Some will be wide-open conversations where directors can pose questions and share resources. Some may include a “guest speaker” or a presentation to address specific questions that arose in previous sessions. Topics may include the latest DCDEE updates, HR issues, financial/business leadership, engaging with families, supporting and retaining teachers, etc.

Date: Thursday, August 10

Time: 1pm to 2:00pm

Topic: 18,000. Come learn more about the significance of this number. Melissa Radcliff, program director at Our Children’s Place of Coastal Horizons, will share what the program has learned about children of incarcerated and returning parents and work to create a community where they are acknowledged, supported, and encouraged to share their stories. Our Children’s Place is a statewide program committed to the children of incarcerated and returning parents. They strive to be the leading North Carolina advocate and educational resource focused on these children and the need for a statewide response to ensure their well-being. Do you also have some experience you’d like to share on this topic as well? Please join us so you can share with other directors!
