The Carolina Breastfeeding-Friendly Child Care (BFCC) Initiative promotes widespread implementation of breastfeeding support in child care settings. Breastfeeding provides the healthiest start in life for infants, but children who are routinely cared for by someone other than their parents are less likely to be breastfed. This training with offer Technical Assistants ( CCHC’s, CCR&R, and other trainers) an opportunity to learn how to help centers create an environment that supports breastfeeding and to become Breastfeeding Friendly Certified. TA’s will receive training on the importance of breastfeeding, how to help a center create a breastfeeding friendly environment, and how to develop a plan with a center to include breastfeeding in parent/staff orientation and educational materials.Training will be provided on the proper handling and feeding of mother’s milk, storage and labeling for center use. TA’s will receive a trainer’s manual, materials for center use and resources for families.
Each TA will need to complete 4 ( 30 minute) modules prior to the training and bring a copy of the certificate. See instructions below:
The first step is to create an account, then log in. After logging-in, there will be three classroom options. Choose “Childcare Settings: Trainers of Early Care Providers.” The promo code is TOT1. If you cannot complete an entire module at one time, you can logout and come back to it later.
