Let Them Lead! Supporting Child-Led Free Play
This two hour class is all about the importance of PLAY! You will learn why it’s important for children to have the time and space for open-ended play and how we can support that as parents and teachers. We will discuss how to create the environment, mood, and adult-support required for children to dive deeply into play. You will have the chance to experience two different kinds of free play set-ups and consider how they affect a child’s desire and ability to play. You will go home with new inspirations and practical ideas for simplifying your days and allowing more play.
Workshop facilitator Becca Lane is the director and lead teacher of the play-based preschool/kindergarten Little Round Schoolhouse. While she initially trained and taught as a public school teacher, she now holds certification from LifeWays North America (a Waldorf-based training) as well as several certifications from Simplicity Parenting. In addition to her time in the classroom, Becca also coaches parents and families in Simplicity Parenting as well as provides consulting for early childhood programs. She and her family live on the edge of the forest outside of Asheville.

You are responsible for contacting us should you wish you transfer your credit to another training.

Unfortunately, we cannot accept cash. If you do not have a credit card or feel uncomfortable using a credit card online, consider asking a friend to register you and giving them cash.
I’m going to be running late. Can I still attend?
Unfortunately, DCDEE rules do not allow for credit to be given to participants that miss more than 15 minutes of a training. The participant is welcome to still attend, but CHCs or CEUs cannot be given.
