Melissa Wilson Award
The Melissa Wilson Award was created to celebrate the life, passion, and lasting impact of Melissa Wilson, a beloved Buncombe County early educator who dedicated her career to helping young children thrive and inspiring others to keep learning and growing.
Each year, one $1,000 award will be available to support a professional development opportunity for a full-time employee of an early childhood center or family child care home in Buncombe County. Funds may be used for a conference, training, class, or other educational opportunity, either online or within North Carolina. Preference will be given to learning opportunities focused on toddlers, outdoor learning environments, loose parts, and social-emotional development, areas that were especially meaningful to Melissa.
